The Hamptons

The Hamptons International Film Festival held their Awards Ceremony at Guild Hall in East Hampton announcing their audience, jury and special prizes. This year’s documentary feature jury was comprised of film critic Thelma Adams and filmmakers Chris Hegedus and Susan Lacy. The narrative jury included film critic Joshua Rothkopf and producers Rachael Horovitz and Trudie Styler. The Festival was honored to partner with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Variety and British Academy of Film and Television on their special programs and tributes. Actor Alan Cumming hosted the evening’s award ceremony and clearly had everyone in stitches with his quick-witted humorous introduction setting the pace for a nice, relaxed ceremony.

“On the occasion of our 20th Anniversary, we are so proud to have hosted such a diverse array of artists and audiences,” said Executive Director Karen Arikian . “From our Board to our sponsors, our staff to our volunteers, this year’s Festival has reinforced our commitment to celebrating the art of film. Tonight’s winners show the scope and the breadth of our jury and audiences’ passion for cinema,“ said Director Of Programming David Nugent. “On behalf of our programming team, I’d like to congratulate ALL the filmmakers who participated in this year’s Festival.” It was evident in the opening speech given by Stuart Match Suna, President of Silvercup Studio and Chairman of HIFF, that he was especially thankful for Alec Baldwin’s boundless generosity and passionate support. He has given back to the entire community marking a wide range of charitable and cultural institutions on our east end.

The Hamptons International Film Festival was founded in 1993 to celebrate independent film- long, short, fiction and documentary – and to introduce a unique, varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to the public. The Festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all. Taking place among the charming seaside historic villages of Long Island’s east end, the Hamptons International Film Festival’s intimate, informal atmosphere makes the festival an ideal destination for cinephiles.
