Southampton Arts Center (SAC) is pleased to host a film screening of Rescued Hearts on Sunday, July 26th from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.

Rescued Hearts is not just the story of horses – it is a story of all of us, offering an invitation for deeper connection with ourselves, each other, and the natural world.

Guests will be able to view a special one-hour screening of this powerful documentary that explores the profound and often miraculous connection between humans and horses.

Through deeply moving personal stories, expert insights, and heart-based research, the film explores how horses offer a space for healing and transformation.

The first hour of Rescued Hearts will be shown from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A featuring equine specialists, moderated by Olivia Lowe from 7:00 – 7:30 pm. Panelists include Jill Carney, CTREE Executive Director and PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Karin Yapalater, Somatic Neuro-equine Therapist & Founder of The School Within, and Robert Dutesco, Award-winning Artist and Founder of IAMWILD Foundation.

From 7:30 – 8:30 pm guests may enjoy light refreshments in the sculpture garden, featuring local equine organizations. Rescued Hearts is directed and produced by Krisanna Sexton & Dana Croschere. Tickets are available for $20 for SAC members and $25 for non-members.

Gravitating to horses at an early age, Jill trained and competed in hunter-jumper and dressage for many years. An experience volunteering at a Special Olympics riding program sparked a passion for Therapeutic Riding and lead her to pursue her PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) and Mentor. Karin is a pioneer in integrating equine communication with somatic and behavioral neuroscience. With over two decades of experience, she bridges equine behavioral psychology and human mental health, utilizing a horse’s hypersensitive nervous system as an energetic and awakening field for strengthening self awareness, emotional intelligence, and trauma recovery. Her nature based sessions are held on tranquil farms and schools throughout the east end of Long Island, NY, and in Sarasota, Florida. She holds Somatic Equine Assisted Coaching Trainings across the country. Karin partners with holistic practitioners, pediatricians, neuropsychologists, and therapists to heal relational trauma through ground-based, non-riding modalities. Her contemplative therapeutic work utilizes somatic co-regulation and heart-rate variability (HRV) synchronization to help families dismantle chronic emotional barriers.

Karin holds degrees from Columbia and NYU, is a Board Certified Integrative Health Counselor, and a Bodhisattva initiate under Harvard Buddhist Chaplain Khen Rinpoche Khenpo Lama Migmar Tseten. She founded The School of Contemplative Studies/The School Within and has over 20 years of Natural Horsemanship mastery training under legends like Buck Brannaman. Roberto Dutesco is a New York-based photographer, filmmaker, and explorer whose work serves as a bridge between the raw power of the natural world and the delicate complexities of human consciousness. For over thirty years, Dutesco has been the preeminent documentarian of the wild horses of Sable Island, a narrow, shifting crescent of sand in the North Atlantic.

His career is defined by a deep, visceral connection to his subjects. Through his lens, the horses of Sable Island are transformed from mere animals into symbols of resilience, love, and ancient alliance. His long-term project—spanning thousands of photographs and an award-winning feature film—captures a world that exists without human interference yet remains entirely at the mercy of human-driven environmental shifts.

Born in Bucharest and established in the heart of New York City, Dutesco’s work has been exhibited globally, inspiring a call to action for the preservation of the Earth’s remaining wild spaces.
