The Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation announced that Claude Grunitzky has been named its President, a newly created position. Grunitzky, currently a member of the Board of Directors, will assume leadership of the Foundation effectively July 10, 2017, alongside Founder and Artistic Director Robert Wilson.

Grunitzky, a journalist, author and media entrepreneur in Europe, Africa and America for over 20 years, is the Founder of cultural publications TRACE and TRUE Africa. “I am looking forward to working more closely with Robert Wilson and his team”, states Grunitzky. “I have long been fascinated by Wilson’s imagination, and the unique way he brings cultures together. In this new role, I plan to build on his legacy as well as craft new collaborations that help advance the Foundation to reach new heights.”

“The Board of Directors is proud to have selected Claude Grunitzky to help meet our exciting new challenges”, states William I. Campbell, Board Chair. “Claude is the kind of executive that can work with Robert Wilson to fully realize Watermill as one of the truly unique institutions for the education and development of artists and their work.”

“I first met Claude Grunitzky close a decade ago”, adds Robert Wilson. In his two and a half years on the Board, he has brought new energy and new ideas. We welcome the chance to work with him to expand the horizon of the Foundation.”

The Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation, operator of The Watermill Center, is an organization founded by Robert Wilson to provide a supportive environment for emerging artists to explore new ideas and foster their career development. Watermill provides a haven for the next generation of artists who embrace avant-garde, multidisciplinary approaches. The Foundation also documents the work of Robert Wilson and his collaborators and manages The Robert Wilson Archive, The Watermill Study Library. A not-for-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, The Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation was chartered in 1969 in the State of New York.
