The 2025 Hamptons International Film Festival Announces Partnership With The Southampton Playhouse!

theater + film :: The Hamptons International Film Festival

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF), presented by Artemis Rising Foundation, announced today a new partnership with the Southampton Playhouse. The Playhouse will join as an official venue for festival screenings and events, expanding HIFF’s footprint into the Southampton community and offering East End audiences additional opportunities to engage with the festival’s programming. The Playhouse will host screenings of films having their World Premieres, U.S. Premieres and East Coast Premieres during the festival.

As part of the festival’s Views From Long Island series, the Southampton Playhouse will host a screening of Warren Elgort’s documentary ARTHUR ELGORT: MODELS & MUSES on October 11th. Director Warren Elgort and his father, legendary photographer and Southampton resident Arthur Elgort, will attend the screening. The film is an intimate portrait of Arthur’s groundbreaking career, which helped define an era of Vogue through his pioneering candid “snapshot” style of fashion photography. Featuring archival images alongside present-day interviews with cultural icons including Anna Wintour, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and Grace Coddington, the film captures both nostalgia and timeless inspiration.

Additionally, the Playhouse will host a special screening of F. W. Murnau’s 1922 silent masterpiece NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR with a live score performed by The Invincible Czars on October 9th. Widely regarded as a cornerstone of horror cinema, NOSFERATU tells the story of a young land clerk drawn into the spell of a vampire’s castle while his wife is tormented by terrifying visions. Since debuting in 2015, The Invincible Czars’ score has become their most popular work, thrilling audiences nationwide with a unique blend of live music and classic film.

Additional films screening at Southampton will be announced. “We are thrilled to partner with the Southampton Playhouse and extend our programming to audiences,” said David Nugent, HamptonsFilm Chief Creative Officer. “This collaboration allows us to highlight extraordinary films with strong local ties, like Warren Elgort’s moving portrait of his father, while also creating unique cinematic experiences such as NOSFERATU with a live score. It’s a perfect reflection of HIFF’s commitment to celebrating both the past and future of cinema.”

“As a cultural hub for the East End, we are excited to welcome HIFF into our theater,” said Maria Ruiz Botsacos, Southampton Playhouse Executive Director. “Hosting both the World Premiere of ARTHUR ELGORT: MODELS & MUSES and a special live presentation of NOSFERATU allows us to bring world-class storytelling and artistry to our community in an unforgettable way. We look forward to building a lasting partnership with the festival.”

The 33rd annual Hamptons International Film Festival will run October 3-13, 2025, with screenings and events taking place across the Hamptons. HIFF thanks this year’s festival sponsors: Presenting Sponsor Artemis Rising Foundation; Premier Sponsor Audi; Signature Sponsors Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, UBS and IL Buco; official Media Partners WNBC, The Atlantic, Hamptons Magazine, The East Hampton Star and Variety; Premium Contributing Sponsors Netflix, Luminara Napa Valley, Assemble Media, Fox Rothschild, King & Spalding, Twomey Latham, Sotheby’s International realty, Wolffer Estate and Louisville Tourism; and foundation supporters New York State Council on the Arts and Suffolk County Film Commission.

ARTHUR ELGORT: MODELS & MUSES
World Premiere
dir. Warren Elgort (USA), 2025

Famed photographer and Southampton resident Arthur Elgort defined an era of Vogue, introduced the candid ‘snapshot’ style of modern fashion photography, and lensed the legendary supermodels of the ’80s and ’90s. Now, the artist becomes muse and subject in this dynamic and affectionate portrait directed by his son Warren Elgort. Pairing iconic archival footage and photos with present-day, star-studded interviews with industry icons including Anna Wintour, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, and Grace Coddington, ARTHUR ELGORT: MODELS & MUSES effectively blends nostalgia with timeless style and inspiration.

NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR
dir. F. W. Murnau (Germany), 1922

Kick off HIFF’s second weekend with silent film and live music! For over a century, NOSFERATU has been celebrated as a masterpiece of the silent era. The saga of the vampire Count Orlok (Max Schreck) has inspired generations of gothic horror—including Robert Eggers’ acclaimed version last year. Now the original’s raw power has been reborn with a modern score written and performed by Austin-based band Invincible Czars. With this one-of-a-kind event, the group brings its unique musical achievement to the Southampton Playhouse as part of its monthlong Halloween programming. Past and present collide as the Czars imbue the movie with new life. Film courtesy of Kino Lorber.
