HARVEST EAST END 2013, presented by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, returns to the East End for its fourth year with a special event celebrating 40 years of winemaking in Long Island Wine Country. Taking place for the first time on the North Fork, the evening will showcase the region’s world class wines from 42 Long Island winemakers and will feature over 34 top regional chefs at McCall Vineyard & Ranch in Cutchogue. Emceed by writer and Best Cellars founder Joshua Wesson, Harvest East End will also be honoring Louisa Hargrave, author and true pioneer of the Long Island winemaking industry alongside John Ross, chef, author and father of North Fork farm to table cuisine. With up to 1,500 people expected to attend, HARVEST EAST END will benefit East End Hospice, Group for the East End and the Peconic Land Trust as well as new beneficiary, The Long Island Farm Bureau Promotion & Education Foundation. HARVEST is organized by the Long Island Wine Council with support from Merliance.
“In commemoration of our 40th anniversary, we are looking forward to hosting our premier event on the North Fork, where the seeds of our wine region were planted. The McCall Vineyard, which also is a working cattle ranch, will create the perfect backdrop to what will be our best HARVEST yet,” says Ron Goerler, Jr., event chair, proprietor and winemaker at Jamesport Vineyards and president of the Long Island Wine Council.
“We are proud to be a part of this celebration of Long Island wine and food,” said Wine Enthusiast Editor & Publisher Adam Strum. “With so many of the region’s wines scoring 88 points or better in our magazine over the past year, Long Island has clearly established itself as a source of elegant, high-quality wines. The combination of superb wines, the array of delicious locally produced food, and stunning natural beauty just two hours outside of Manhattan earned Long Island’s North and South Forks inclusion in our list of the 10 best wine-travel destinations of 2013.”
Nestled in the hamlet of Cutchogue near the Great Peconic Bay, the McCall Vineyard & Ranch is home to merlot and pinot grapes, and a herd of lovely white Charolais beef cattle. This beautiful charity fundraiser will raise the profile of Long Island wine region and the world-class wines made here with winemakers from 42 vineyards pouring barrel samples and special selections. Alongside them, more than 30 notable chefs from restaurants such as A Mano, Arthur on Smith, BLT Prime, City Hall, First & South, Grana Trattoria Antica, Jedediah Hawkins Inn, Kitchen A Bistro, Madison & Main, Main Restaurant & Oyster Bar, Mali B Sweets, Mirabelle, Noah’s, North Fork Table & Inn and Stonewalls Restaurant, just to name a few, will offer seasonal tastes sourced from East End farms, fields and fishing boats, showcasing the bounty of Long Island and its emergence as a viticultural and culinary destination.
This year’s HARVEST Vin-IP Experience is presented by Lincoln. Wine aficionados, collectors and connoisseurs will become not just VIPs – but Vin-IPs – as part of this exclusive ticket level. The Vin-IP Experience includes an hour early entry with a sparkling wine reception, one-on-one access to the evening’s chefs and winemakers, reserved table seating, up-front parking and more luxuries to come. It will also feature The Library Lounge, where Vin-IPs can taste “The 40 Best Wines,” a special sampling of Long Island vintners’ favorite selections.
