Summer Sunday Classics
The Hamptons Film Festival Film Series

Sole East Resort
90 Second House Road in Montauk
BIG WEDNESDAY (1978), by John Milius
Acclaimed photographer, filmmaker and Montauk resident Bruce Weber, The Hamptons
International Film Festival (HIFF) and Montauk's Sole East Resort proudly announce the
addition of four surf films to the inaugural summer series, Summer Sunday Classics.
Hailed by many surfers as one of the all-time greatest Hollywood surf movies, BIG WEDNESDAY
chronicles the lives and adventures of three care-free California surfers from the 60's to
the 70's. While the friends surf, party, and anticipate the long-awaited big swell that
will be their surfing mecca, the Vietnam War and the pains of adulthood cast dark shadows
on their idyllic lifestyle. Loosely based on the writer's and director's real experiences
in Malibu, BIG WEDNEDSAY's authentic and breathtaking surf scenes make it a long-standing
favorite.

A casual, summer barbecue and cocktail hour will kick off each Sunday night at 7 with food
and drink available for purchase, and film screenings will begin after sunset. The series
is free and open to the general public. Film to be announced!! info@hamptonsfilmfest.org or

MaDGallery Opening Reception
Dana Volkert Atmospheres new paintings curated by Carole Reed

39 Industrial Road Unit 16 in Wainscott
This exhibition continues the artist's exploration of patterns and abstractions in the
natural world. Dana creates compelling compositions with oil paint, abalone and various
types of leafing. The resulting works are luminous abstractions with subtle texture and
a minimalist feel. Dana embodies a fully modern and ethereal aesthetic that shows us a
macrocosmic world that is both elegant and sublime. The artist's hand is almost undetectable
in the surface of her work and yet I feel as if she has ordered chaos in the most careful
fashion. For more information Dana Volkert Art Exhibition please call 631.875.7366.

3rd Annual Hamptons Pursuit Car Ralley for The Retreat

Starting Point - The Retreat Boutique
Bridgehampton Commons in Bridgehampton - 2102 Montauk Highway
Dust off that cool car of yours and get it ready for the rallye! As you know the
rallye is a really fun day that involves cruising through the back roads of the Hamptons,
following "clues" to find your way to each of the checkpoints. This year the event will
start at the Retreat Boutique in the Bridgehampton Commons. Hampton Coffee Company is
generously donating all the continental breakfast for you to enjoy prior to the "shot-gun"
start. The boutique will be open for you or your navigator to browse, shop or use the
facilities through and will make a great place to hide in if we, once again, receive
a morning downpour! The *first 20 Drivers* to sign up and pay will receive a red Ferrari
Hat but hurry only a few are left! The finish line will be at a waterside home where we
will be serving lunch. Prizes will be awarded to the entrant that finishes first as
long as they have all the checkpoint stamps, as well as the cars that have the most
trivial questions answered correctly.

All proceeds from the Rallye directly benefit the Retreat - the East End's only domestic
violence agency:theretreatinc.org The cost is $150 before July 1 or $175 after July 1
(includes driver, navigator and lunch). Go online to theretreatinc.org and either email it
