Join the Museum's Volunteer Corps:

The Parrish has several exciting opportunities for individuals interested in volunteering. If you are looking for a creative outlet or are interested in the arts, then volunteering at the Museum is a wonderful way to spend your time. The Parrish is fortunate to have a devoted group of men and women who assist the staff in a number of ways and we hope you will consider becoming one of the many dedicated individuals who make an important contribution to the Museum, and in turn to the greater community.

Your Talent Can Help:

Public Relations & Marketing

Those interested in the news and in marketing will enjoy helping the public relations director in a lively, fast-paced environment. A detail-oriented, creative individual is needed one or two days per week to assist with newspaper clipping, mailings, filing, and computer entry.

Curatorial Department

If you are patient, well-organized, detail oriented and you love art, this department can use your help. Beginning in February, one individual is needed to organize a large collection of art slides and another is needed to assist with basic administrative tasks, one or two days a week.

Education

Become a docent and learn about the exhibitions on view, lead tours, and assist with various programs. An individual with good organizational skills can also help the education department one day per week with typing, filing, data entry, and mailings.

Chidren's and Family Programs

If you enjoy being with children and participating in fun activities, consider volunteering with children's programs. Greet guests, collect admission, assist teachers, and distribute materials during events.

Public Programs

A number of individuals are also needed to greet guests, collect admission, and assist public program staff with the Museum's lively roster of concerts, lectures, and films throughout the year.

Membership

Volunteers are essential to help museum membership grow. If you enjoy talking with people, you can solicit memberships on weekends or during programs throughout the year.

Special Events

The special events department needs volunteers to assist with the Museum's major fundraising events, at which individuals collect tickets, and help guests check in. During the year, you can also greet guests and pour wine at exhibition openings and programs.

The Museum Shop

If you have an interest in retail, are friendly, and like working with others, then you will enjoy volunteering in The Museum Shop. Individuals are needed year-round to assist the shop manager with sales.

You can volunteer for the amount of time you feel most comfortable and can assist staff in several different departments. Please print out this volunteer application form and mail it to the museum.

Volunteer Perks:

  • Museum membership with 35 hours of service
  • Discount on merchandise from The Museum Shop
