The First Annual Parrish Art Museum High School Exhibition and Competition March 13 through March 26
OPENING PREVIEW AND RECEPTION This new exhibition will showcase the creative talents of aspiring artists by providing a professional forum for high school students to display their best work. While high school students have long been included in annual School Art Festivals, this broader exhibition will illustrate the exceptional talent, diversity, originality and creativity of the region's young visual artists. Open to eastern Suffolk County, the exhibition will include public and private schools from the townships of Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southampton, Southold, and East Hampton. The presentation is also a tribute to the art teachers in the region's high schools, who inspire, direct and refine the work of these young artists. Beyond the recognition and experience of displaying their work in an art museum, selected senior exhibitors will compete for cash prizes in several categories. The Parrish Art Museum's 2005 Student Exhibitions and related educational programs are made possible, in part, through generous support by the Pincus Family Fund, the May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc., Mr. George P. Mills, the Southampton Rotary Club, Southampton Public Schools, Tuckahoe Common School District, and with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency. |
