I come from a family of artists and have been involved in the arts most of my life. Living on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation and absorbing history from my grandmother and elders, and doing many years of research, I translate that knowledge into painting scenes of historic Indian life and portraits of well known ancestors. I particularly enjoy working on large scale murals. Having studied a variety of media, I concentrate on pencil and acrylic, oil and wood-carving, and book illustrations. In terms of subject matter in my entire body of work, I vary greatly from painting the still-life, landscapes, pets, houses and most often, portraiture. Stylistically, I enjoy the classic style of realism and good representational art work. I am constantly evolving to impart a spiritual strength and vibrancy when depicting anyone's likeness. I believe art should uplift and elevate the soul and not dwell in the negative conditions of history and society.
Some of my work has become part of the permanent collection of the Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center And Museum. Commissions in any subject matter are accepted. I can be reached at 631.287.6931.
