Become A Volunteer

Volunteer for the environment!

If you feel motivated by the Group's mission or want to learn more about the environment, we encourage you to become a Group for the East End volunteer.

Volunteers make a difference!

The Group's volunteer program officially got underway in the summer of 1991. Since that time, our volunteers have:

  • staffed our Annual Benefit and Environment Benefit
  • answered phones and attended hearings
  • cleaned garbage from beaches and cleared bike paths
  • inventoried breeding birds and conducted research
  • created an educational library and led field trips and nature walks
  • folded and stuffed fundraising letters and blazed trails
  • erected osprey nesting platforms and painted the office
  • worked for the Peconic Estuary Program
  • photocopied documents and recycled office waste and ran errands
  • planted beach grass and assisted with the T.E.R.N. program

If you can help out one day a week, twice a month, or even once a month, call the Group for the East End at 631.765.6450 or e-mail info@eastendenvironment.org and they will send you an application and answer your questions about their volunteer program.
