It is the story of a young woman coming of age under the stringent rules of southern culture. The digitally composed film incorporates actual readings by Tennessee Williams. Starring newcomer Cynthia Watros, Dunaway's film tells the story of a "yellow bird" named Alma, a preach daughter who has lived under the stifling restrictions of a southern upbringing. Raised by a father who has always been obsessed that she might "get into smo or end up at a "good time house," Alma is subjected to a very sheltered life dictated by the rules of the Bible as interpreted by her father. The film follows Alma on a journey as she breaks free and embarks upon a world full of possibilities. Academy Award-winning actress Faye Dunaway has electrified audiences worldwide for over three decades and made a dramatic import on film history. Of the American Film Institute's list of 100 Best American Movies Ever Made, she starred in three of them:Chinatown, Bonnie & Clyde and Network, for which she won both on Oscar and Golden Globe award for Best Actress.
