The Hamptons International Film Festival was
created to provide a forum for filmmakers around the world who express an independent
vision. It has significantly grown each year with an increase
in attendance to well over 30,000 and has established itself as a source
of new, quality cinema. This year's festival was held from October 17-21, 2001
and these pages reflect the most recent programs. Please check back early October 2002 for
the next festival programming and in the meantime all
submissions can be made directly at the site.
The Festival brings together new, emerging talent with acknowledged masters of world cinema, scholars, and key industry professionals through its annual Festival and a year-round, ongoing program of seminars and workshops. The Festival's year-round programs are also committed to the need for film preservation and restoration. A distinctive component of the Festival is to support outstanding filmmakers and college students with cash and in-kind awards and scholarship programs. "There has never been a better time than now for the state of New York to celebrate the accomplishments of the talented filmmakers participating in the Hamptons International Film Festival. The Empire State prides itself on its thriving film industry and relishes the opportunity to welcome the International Film Community to one of the world's leading production regions."
