The Hampton Classic Horse Show, one of the most prestigious equestrian events in the country, has announced that Jennifer Brandon, of Waverly, Pennsylvania, has been selected as the 2018 Official Poster Artist. The 43rd annual event returns to Bridgehampton, NY, August 26 – September 2 for a week of thrilling world-class competition that features the nation’s best horses and riders. The highly sought-after souvenir poster is currently available for pre-order on the Hampton Classic website, for shipping after the show. It will be available onsite during the event in the Hampton Classic shop.

A delighted Brandon, who will be attending her seventh Hampton Classic this year, said “I’m honored to have my work chosen as the image for the Hampton Classic Poster for 2018,” following with “It’s exciting each year to see what inspiration is featured on the poster, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!” Brandon’s selected piece, “A Splash of Red,” is a 24″ x 24″ oil on canvas created with vibrant colors. “I was drawn to the comradery between this horse and rider – a beautiful pair,” described Brandon. “The striking contrast of the black horse in all its power and motion against the vast blue sky created a harmonious energy that I found irresistible.”

Each year a committee at the Hampton Classic reviews the artwork submissions and decides the winner. “Jen Brandon’s piece is beautiful as it exudes the action of show jumping competition,” said Shanette Barth Cohen, the horse show’s Executive Director. “We are delighted with the committee’s selection. And, we’re thrilled Jen will have the original artwork on display and available for purchase at her booth at the Longines Masters New York this weekend.”

Born in New York, and raised amidst the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, Brandon grew up surrounded by farm animals and pastoral settings. Those early years ingrained in her a deep, natural knowing for the nuances of animal portraiture, and instilled a deep reverence for the majesty and beauty inherent in all living creatures. Passionate about her artwork, Brandon attended Marywood University where she earned a BFA in Illustration.

Long noted for her unique artistic vision and special connection to animals, her stylized approach captures everything from the graceful power of a horse in motion to the tender loyalty in a dog’s eyes, even the quirky expressions of a cow. Powerful movements, rich colors, bold brush strokes, and deep emotions resonate throughout her works. “I grew up riding and raising horses. The best days were the times I’d be lost for entire afternoons riding my mare. Horses have always played an important role in my life,” reflected Brandon.

Demand for Brandon’s bold, iconic work is vast, encompassing global collectors and the famous equestrian enclaves of Wellington, Palm Beach and the Hamptons. Her poignant works can be found in select equestrian shows and venues, including the Hampton Classic, Winter Equestrian Festival, Saratoga Saddlery, Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Happy Valley Race Course. Brandon will be exhibiting at the 2018 Longines Masters New York in New York City, April 26-29.

Beyond her extensive studio work, Brandon receives many requests for direct commissions depicting people’s pets, creating custom animal portraits with vivid, piercing eyes rendered in oil on canvas. Her mission to share the wonders of wildlife is not confined to the canvas. Brandon also supports and donates to charities such as the Humane Society International, the Seraphim Foundation, Everhart museum, the Countryside Conservancy and the YMCA. “I count it a privilege to be able to connect with my clients, both patrons and new collectors, at the Hampton Classic,” added Brandon. “It’s a place where inspiration is born, and custom paintings begin.”

Even when she’s out of the studio, rock climbing, or fishing with her husband Jared and their two Great Danes, her soul is still at work, creating mental images to be used in future renderings. For more information about Brandon and to view her artwork, visit JenBrandonStudio.com.
