The Beachhouse in East Hampton

We THOROUGHLY enjoy when we are invited to sample local fare! So with great enthusiasm we headed over to East Hampton to try out one of Michael Gluckman’s two hot new restaurants! This particular evening we opted in for Beachhouse but he also owns Boathouse on the water where Group for the East End held a kickoff summer soiree back in May :: our summer videos. We had already been to Beachhouse at the opening of the season for the Plum Hamptons Magazine debut party so had a fair idea of the treat in store for us at this rustic, modern farmhouse grille! The last two weeks of August are pretty much the climax of summertime in the hamptons so we were happy to drop in on a weeknight when the crowds are minimal…respectively! We were lucky that it was not too crowded at all and got a great table by the wide open doors on such a hot night. LOCAL chef Dennis Farrell formerly of NYC’s Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse created a signature house specialty for us – fried green tomatoes smothered w/crab as a surprise app…after we had just eaten the sensational grilled shrimp with southern style grits…a.n.d. we shared the beets w/fresh goat cheese (that kept our hands out of the bread basket served with olive oil…sort of ; ) Who can resist warm bread along with a glass of good pinot noir? We were so satisfied with the assortment of tantalizing appetizers we were hard pressed to finish the meal…but a perfectly cooked filet mignon that was topped with a classic bernaise sauce was irresistable. Dare we mention the freshly made donuts & chocolate for dessert?!? SO if you like a great American steakhouse & fresh farm to table produce we highly recommend the Beachhouse. You might want to try it when The Hamptons International Film Festival comes to town! follow us on twitter @hamptonsmedia!

We love Kahil Gibran’s take On Eating & Drinking
